Online

IPTCA - Irish Play Therapy Community Association and arttherapyireland are delighted to announce the 6-week CPD art therapy group designed especially for play therapists and facilitated by art therapist Andrea Clare Plunkett.

The group for play therapists will be the latest art therapy CPD to happen, this time we widen the reach by offering the group online. Safe space will be offered for therapists to reflect and explore their creativity using materials within the home/garden

What is CPD?

CPD, or Continual Professional Development is an ethical component of being a therapist of any kind, be it talk, art, drama, play or music. By attending art therapy as CPD you can get time to reflect on how it feels to make art and be creative in a therapeutic setting. Therefore giving you insight into this part of your practice for the people you work with. We will take time to focus on the self, to focus on you in your practice and explore other helpful creative topics to help you fully reflect on yourself as a therapist. All within a fun, creative and safe environment.

Please note: **This CPD does not offer 'training' in art therapy, a formal Masters level qualification recognised by the Irish Association of Creative Art Therapy (IACAT) is needed to safely practice as an art therapist in Ireland. Andrea or IACAT.ie can offer a list of courses that are currently running on the island of Ireland should you wish to formally train in art therapy.

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses art media to express, reflect and communicate. You do not need to have any previous experience or expertise in art to benefit from art therapy.

Who is it for?

Art Therapy can be used across the lifespan; these online sessions are for play therapists (either training or qualified) and cater for all needs or requirements. We are an open and inclusive space for all, so if you have any additional needs please let Andrea know.

What are the benefits?

Art therapy is founded on the belief that creative self-expression has therapeutic value for those who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and their personalities. Art therapy sessions can help a vast array of common life experiences including social or generalised anxiety, relief of stress, and facilitate life transitions. Most importantly art therapy sessions offer a time to stop, relax and re-focus inward.

Booking notes:

Consent will be needed from each person attending as this is an art therapy group. Booking is non-refundable except, in the rare event that organisers cancel, Attendance and punctuality at all 6 sessions are necessary for our small group cohesion.

*Booking will close 30th September.

Andrea Clare Plunkett is an IACAT registered art therapist MSc trained at Ulster University, Belfast School of Art. Andrea works with groups in the RHA Gallery both online and face-to-face using an empowering person-led approach.
